So I had some large custom orders come in and had to hurry up and finish those before school started. I'm soooooo sorry I'm not able to post a full tutorial like I said.
Hopefully these tips will come in handy, I'll answer any questions you may have!
Polymer Clay Pizza Tutorial
Materials you'll need:
Polymer clay in tan, light yellow, translucent, dark red, yellow, green, and black
Pastels in ochre
Liquid Sculpey
Paint in white, red and blue colors
Something of coarse texture (like a rock or coarse grit sandpaper)
An X-acto knife
Glaze
Herbs (optional)
How to make the dough:
Mix up the tan, light yellow, and translucent colors in the same proportions as for the apple pie dough shown here: fairchildart.deviantart.com/ar…
Roll it into a ball and flatten into a circle of about 7/8ths of an inch in diameter. Dab your thumb down in a circular motion on the inside of the circle to create a raised "crust."
Texture around the crust lightly with your rock or sandpaper and then brush all around the edges with the ochre pastel.
How to make the sauce:
Stir up just a tiny bit of the blue paint with the red paint so it's not as bright of a red. Mix the deep red paint with liquid sculpey and brush this onto your pizza dough.
Don't add the cheese yet! We're going to make and bake the toppings first.
How to make the toppings:
For the peppers, I blended translucent clay with the pepper's color (either green or yellow) and then rolled out the clay before cutting square shapes from the flattened mixtures.
For the pepperoni, I rolled some spheres of the dark red clay, flattened them and then cut the " pepperoni slices" into quarters.
For the olives, I rolled some spheres of the black clay and then created holes in the center with a needle.
I also flattened some translucent clay and cut out some onion shapes to sprinkle on.
Bake both the toppings and dough + sauce (separately of course! you want the toppings on the cheese not the sauce).
Now you can drizzle on some cheese!
I mixed a small amount of white paint with liquid sculpey so it wasn't too opaque, and brushed this onto the sauce.
Then go ahead and be generous with your baked toppings
Now bake your completed pizza!
Once it's out of the oven, you can glaze your cheese, sauce and toppings. Garnish with a little bit of herbs and there's your homemade pizza pie
Bah I know it's not the same without pictures. Unfortunately there won't be any updates until May because I have a really grueling curriculum, which leaves no time for art. X(
I'll still do my best to reply though!

FAQ
Here I've compiled a list of the questions I get asked the most often ^_^
1) How long have you been making miniatures?
I started out in July of 2008 with a book by Sue Heaser called Making Doll's House Miniatures with Polymer Clay. It's a fantastic book with very easy to follow tutorials on everything from miniature potatoes to Tiffany style lamps. I was amazed at how such simple clay techniques could produce incredibly realistic results. From there I started using pictures of real food as a reference and it's spiraled into an obsession ever since!
2) Where do you purchase your plates and other miniature accessories?
Luckily there's a
